backache backache... my mom says that i'm trapped in an aged body. that sounds true, i feel that i've aged at least 3 yrs over the past few mths ever since i started teaching.
this week is terrific! no formal lessons and lotsa time to clear backlogs and admin work finally! ha.
i had a shock yesterday when i left school early and the office called. B (the boy whom i mentioned a few postings prior to this) was caught for shoplifting! i can't help but to shout "WHAT" into the phone. i really can't believe this... for a moment i was actually saddened by this, for the fact that he gave up on himself. he can't be in any lack of money and the only possibility is to seek thrills..
besides him, there's other characters in this class who are really interesting. i wonder what's in stalled next yr when i follow up with them.
next yr will be exciting and trying. new position, more challenges as well as added workload. in face of these daunting tasks, i was reminded of my "non-negotiables". when we fail to hv our list of non-negotiables such as spiritual life, personal time, family etc.. all these are the things which we will trade off for time to do work. this is especially so when time isn't on our side. contuary to belief, this list of non-negotiables help us to stay focused and work will always remain as work, not our personal life nor God nor family. non-negotiables are things which keep us saint.
i've seen colleagues getting consumed by work leading to endless hrs spent in office. it's bad enough starting work at 7am, and how worse can it get when u have to work through 12 hrs and still trapped in the office at 7pm?
what's the purpose of working so hard? the monetary rewards? no way... earning peanuts as compared to the time spent.
prestige? climbing the ladder? personal sense of achievement? responsibility?I can only conclude that it is meaningless without any strong convictions or principles to stand upon. Therefore I thank God. Because of His Words that keeps me saint and purposeful.
