NZ, Auckland (14-25 Dec)

back home finally after more than 2 weeks away, including the maldives trip. NZ trip was awesome!!! 2 things kept bugging me on the flight back home. firstly, my housewife instinct of how am i going to get all the 12 days worth of clothes washed, dried and ironed in time and second, to upload photos quickly cos my camera was a bit wonky. now while the clothes are being churned in the machine, i've got some time to update!

there's so much to talk about that i don't know where to begin. we took so many photos simply because the backdrop each time was so beautiful. being highly selective, we still have about near to a thousand photos taken over the 12 days.

we covered as much of NZ as we could, starting from the north island. each city that we went to had an icon of it's own and we really had a great time at every one of them.
since there's so much to talk about, i think i should just condense the highlights of each place. the time difference was a killer- NZ's 5 hrs ahead of s'pore time. as for the weather, it was supposedly to be summer but we were totally taken off guards when we went to south island! temperature range was around 8 degree celcius. there's an exceptional one which i'll mention later.

the places that we went to, in order, were:
1. Auckland (14-15 dec)
2. Rotoura (16-18 dec)
and the south island,
3. Christchurch (19, 23, 25 dec)
4. Mt Cook (20 dec)
5. Queenstown (20-21 dec)
6. Glacier region (22 dec)
7. Greymouth (23 dec)
8. Kaikoura (24 dec)

right on. after tina's wedding on saturday night, it was a challenge to wake up at 6am the following day to catch our flight in the morning. this was our second SQ flight this yr after maldives and i realised we are kinda extreme. either we travel by airasia or tigerair to krabi/bangkok or it's sia to hk, maldives and now, NZ.
we reached auckland at 11.40pm NZ time (6.40pm s'pore time) and we prepared ourselves to sleep. our stay was at skycity tower hotel which is strategic.

on the second day, we went up the highest tower in NZ to have a bird eye view of the city. it cost NZ$33 per pax to go up the tower for viewing. due to the fact that we were the hotel guests, we only had to pay NZ$36 in total, as one person goes for free.

there are all these glass panels all over the floor and it's kinda creepy. more than 45 feet above ground.

some brave souls doing tower walking and for the more daring ones, it was tower jump!
we then proceeded to Dress Smart warehouse which houses alot of labels at factory prices. as most of their shops and services ends around 5pm, we had to give the visit to vineyard at wahike island a miss :(
finally back to the town central again with the huge santa claus where the christmas celebration will be held.
