bon apeptite

I was in Popular today and had an idea suddenly. Other than looking at books on self help, novels and baby names, I was also looking at cookbooks. The movie, Julie & Julia came to mind and I thought for a while if I should get a cookbook and follow through the dishes in there till I have experimented all of them. I'm certainly not as adventurous as the female lead in the movie to try out french food but more of local dishes or dishes from different dialect groups. Well, will see how things goes :)

random potluck

The post is named as such because I suddenly remembered during LG's absence that there's group of nicccceee gals from church who haven't been to our place yet. And so, that was how this rather abrupt idea came about.

We were all famished by the time we started dinner and hence were only concerned with the food in front of us, not realising we forgot to take photos of the spread. Oh well. Realising later is better than none, at least we "photo-documented" the dessert, that is, the ice cream.
Although taking pictures of these little things in life may seem far too trival and sometimes, frivolous as regarded by some, lately, I felt that there was a need to do so. While our memories fade and time passes by so quickly, these photos serve as a reminder of what we have been doing with our limited lifespan here. Besides, it's nice to flip albums from time to time to see the changes.

end of year therapy-soon?

i must start cracking on my craft work soon! have thought of making these cute baby girl accessories some time back but haven't gotten down to do anything. well, somehow some day before SKM's baby girl is due, i must get it out!
the existance of this blog has kinda slipped my mind these days with all the daily to-do's, going about the everyday routine and weekly responsibilities and chores.

for both of us, marriage meant that we could now stay together under the same roof and it negates the need for goodbye each time after a date. ironically, we seemingly have less time to date and it's seldom that we get to have a proper few hours to ourselves on weekends without having to scurry around these days. the stress of life and ever increasing workload, a trend similar to that of the growing home prices seems to be the main culprit. i dread the thought of how a baby might disturb this barely achieveable equation of work life balance.

it has dawned upon me that adulthood, afterall, is not so fun. to me, it is equated to a checklist of responsibilities.
pardon my rumbling... must be the pre-pre-pre-30's blue. heh.

new beginning?

I don't quite get it.

Why is everyone leaving?

To another new workplace; to a new place of worship; to another new country to work and start their new lives; to a new environment to study; to a new place for a new start?
And the worst feared, to another realm which separtes life and death.

In a matter of less than a week, I've come to know of another 2 leavings already to top off all the leavings. I can't deny the fact that I'm upset and am affected by these. As a matter of fact, they are people who mean something to me, and the idea of parting just upsets me.

But hey. Who am I to question all these? I don't know what's the best for them and it's probably out of my own selfishness that I'm reacting like that. To these good friends, I wish u the best and that u'll find what u were seeking for.

not enough hours

it seems that after the short break, both of us have been BUSIER than usual and our only consolation- HOLIDAYS to look forward to.
snippets of updates :
1) many colleagues are resigning.
2) tuition centre is indeed a good money spinner- partners anyone?
3) i got my book from boarders.
4) i've extended our air tix fr lionair due to fly this jun.
5) my current favourite websites are zuji, travel advisor, lonely planet.
6) my markings are undone.
7) sorry but i think prc reinforced my understanding of them as being unreasonable-they simply want their way.
8) thankful that i need not give talk at rp anymore.
9) badminton team is into finals. hoping to change history- remove "ruffles" (replace u with a) from the decade champ record.
10) i like my students- they're so sweet and they volunteered their help so readily! my gal recorded the whole national geographic show for me and even burn into cd w/o me telling her! and "gigi" fr my class walked on the 400m track under the blazing hot sun to calibrate my padometer. i think they're all angels- heaven sent!

the truth behind the glossy look

it's the result of wax that's coated onto the apples to retain moisture as well as to keep off bugs during transportation.
another gross side of the food production nowadays...
so much about worms burrowing out of apples disgusting when it's organic.. how about excessive wax in the body? wax figurines soon, anyone?
very much into this lately cos it'll be time to lecture again :( and i've also been ranting alot about H1N1 to my precious classes...
it's going to be long weekend soon!

pesticide or toothpaste, mdm?

upon seeing this in an email from a friend, i immediately thought of how much pesticide i could have possibly consumed in a year with those kg's of grapes which i chomp down like a staple.

the next thing i found myself when i got home, was to wash the pint of grapes in the fridge with darlie and it really worked like a charm!
i suppose it's better to eat grapes with mint coated skin than malathion (pesticide which kills insects)

wise saying?

from a colleague which totally got the females crack up...

"Whatever you give a woman, she will make greater. If you give her sperm, she'll give you a baby. If you give her a house, she'll give you a home. If you give her groceries, she'll give you a meal. If you give her a smile, she'll give you her heart. She multiplies and enlarges what is given to her. So... if you give her any crap, be ready to receive a ton of shit."

make a vote!

last weekend, LG and I were talking about some work related stuff which led us to browse the actual day album. there were so many photos that we didn't get to develop all of them and i rem screening 400 out of 2000+ shoots was a tough feat.

jus wanna feature how my bro and i always make fun of each other -

that was a side track. the main reason why we flipped the album was for me to spot his hod. anyway, make a guess which group is mine and which is his colleagues. i seriously find that there's such a strong tell tale sign.
